Do you hate taking on difficult-to-clean items? Use these tips to make your life easier
From time to time we have to deal with some kind of cleaning that cannot be put off any longer, but that without having the right approach, seems to be an insurmountable challenge. Some types of dirt are more much difficult to remove, and certain items seem to take much longer to clean properly and thoroughly - and these are the items that we most often want to pass over or even forget.
This is where tips from the internet can be useful: there are in fact, several brilliant and simple cleaning tips that could make the difference and becoming a winning cleaning solution for many of us. Find out about some of these solutions by reading further:
Are you familiar with those soft and colored pastes, moldable and a little sticky that we often find in the shops, sold under the name of slime? These slimes are designed to slip into the gaps of difficult-to-clean objects such as fans and computer keyboards or remote controls, so as to pick up the dirt and remove it easily without leaving a trace behind.
Well, you can also prepare some slime at home by mixing 60 grams of borax with 230 ml hot water and 140 grams of liquid glue.
Restore cast iron pans by soaking them in vinegar until the rust comes off, and then brush them with a little oil and place them in the oven at 170 ° C (340 ° F) for one hour.
Wash children's toys - from bricks (LEGO, for example) to various plastic figurines and figurines - in the dishwasher. Smaller pieces should still be kept in bags such as those used for the laundry of delicate items or placed in heat-resistant plastic net bags. However, set a medium temperature cycle and definitely do not use high temperature program.
Remove rust and stains from the iron's bottom surface: just cover an ironing board with a little parchment paper, sprinkle with kitchen salt and pass the hot iron over it.
Bleach and clean the rubber of the sneakers using simple acetone and wiping with cotton balls (acetone is usually used to remove the nail polish).
If you have Venetian blinds on your windows which you need to clean and you want to do it faster, in addition to using a sock as a glove, you can use:
- an old paintbrush, if the Venetian blind slats are spaced appropriately enough to take the bristles,
- a pair of tongs, such as those used in the kitchen (for salads, ice, frying...) whose ends have been wrapped with microfibre cloths held in place with elastic bands (see photo).
Running out of cloths (swiffers) that fit over your broom? You can recycle old, soft, thick Chenille socks for this same purpose.
If you have used your broom to remove dust-filled cobwebs from the corners of the ceilings, then to clean the broom itself, you can leave it immersed in a bucket of hot water with a little soap for an hour or so, then rinse and let it dry off.
Remember to regularly clean your earphones to ensure proper personal hygiene: you can do this by wetting a cotton swab with alcohol and passing it over the outside of the buds, while on the inside, the sound drum must be cleaned with the help of an old toothbrush - but be gentle with these delicate devices and do not ever use water on them.
Wooden cutting boards and pastry boards must be treated every now and then with products that will nourish the fibers of the wood, and vegetable oil is often used for this - particularly olive oil. In the long run, however, it may not be the right choice, due to the fact that the oil can turn rancid (a problem also common to coconut oil). Over time, in fact, all natural oils turn rancid. You should therefore always have bottles of mineral oil or a mix of beeswax and mineral oil ready for this task.
