What is missing from your living room that would make it beautiful and welcoming? Discover the little tweaks that make all the difference

Once we have chosen the colors for the walls, furniture styles and patterns, we have completed the bulk of the decor in a room - but it never ends there. When we start living in the rooms, we inevitably want some changes: maybe we add accessories here and there that sometimes we accumulate objects, creating a disorderly mess. And other times, however, we do not realize that we have overlooked some areas of the home.

The various rooms of the house must always be welcoming and pleasant, and the living room is the one where we will spend most of our relaxing moments - alone or with guests - so perhaps it deserves to always be ready and more prepared than the other rooms. But what can we do to make this space more beautiful and comfortable? Here are some tips from the experts:

Layout of the furniture

Sofas and armchairs that end up in our living rooms must be comfortable in themselves, therefore never too hard or too soft, and also arranged in such a way as to create a comfortable space for everyone.

Consider the time you want to spend in the room, and if perhaps you often have guests that you spend afternoons and evenings with. If the focus is on a television, everyone will have to see it properly, but if instead you prefer a space to chat together in, then make sure that each piece of furniture faces the others so as to create an inclusive space.

Empty corners

If there is a corner of the room - even if it is close to the entrance - which is bare, insert a decorative element. From simple wall frames, or even shelves with an attractive design, to a vase with a plant (if there is enough light), or a coffee table with some decoration on it.

Cushions

To use cushions - yes or no? Cushions are certainly objects that add color and variety to the general furnishings, therefore they are always aesthetically pleasing to see when they match the rest of the environment. But when there are too many and to sit on the sofa or the armchair you have to remove them every time, it can be a pain... It is better to remove them completely rather than risk overcrowding the room with cushions. Always leave only the ones that really make the room more comfortable to sit and relax in.

Ornaments

Do you have any cupboards, shelves of a bookcase or other furniture that have a flat surface. If so, you will have notices that it becomes the storage area for loads of objects that we place and forget there (like car keys). Instead, you could decorate these surfaces with a well-balanced composition of ornaments, without going too far. Thus the space will be occupied and there is no longer any risk of a mess being created.

Coffee tables

In the center of the living room there is usually a coffee table, and even on these we often end up placing everything. But whatever model it is, it is never as beautiful as when it is (almost) completely clear of clutter. So if guests arrive or want to eat something on the fly, you have a place to lay out plates and tray... which will then be returned to the kitchen!

Lights

Create many points of light so that each area is illuminated, and that you can select which ones to keep on. Being surrounded by dark corners makes the space less pleasant, especially when entertaining someone.

Furthermore, it is advisable to always try to hide the cables and wires from view and consider eliminating having curtains on the windows: in fact, if there is no danger of prying eyes, a window without curtains seems wider and less "cumbersome" visually.

Paying attention to these aspects is sometimes all it takes to transform a living room!
