Next to any toilet we will usually always find a toilet brush, ready to take care of one of the least pleasant things that we happen to do at home, but necessary to ensure proper hygiene in the bathroom.

Whatever the model may be, the toilet brush must be regularly cleaned and kept in its housing in conditions that do not allow for germs and bacteria to proliferate, and each time it is necessary to deal with it using methods and tips. One very effective and simple, but above all comfortable and fast method, went viral on the social network called TikTok, where user "@vicolsfamilyhouse" showed off a technique that really seems to solve the problem with the least possible annoyance. Read on to discover this method and also to try an alternative next time you have to clean the toilet brush.

To take care of your toilet brush, you only need a kettle full of boiling water and a disinfectant liquid (it can be bleach or a sanitizing detergent for floors or for other surfaces, perhaps even scented to your liking).

  • Raise the toilet seat and place the toilet brush handle on the edge of the toilet, so that the brush is suspended over the bowl.
  • Close the seat on the handle, so that with it you hold the brush in place without keeping your hands near the brush.
  • Pour the boiling water from the kettle onto the toilet brush, turning the brush so as to reach it in all its parts.
  • Then put some bleach (or detergent) inside the toilet brush holder and put the brush back inside.

It's really simple, just watch the video to see just how to try this method and then be prepared for next time you have to deal with this issue. In the absence of bleach, you could also use white vinegar, but vinegar is not as disinfectant. Bicarbonate alone, on the other hand, can absorb odors but cannot sanitize and clean thoroughly.

Another method you can try is this:

  • Fill a bucket with hot water
  • Add a quantity of bleach (consider about half a glass or so)
  • Immerse the toilet brush in the solution and soak it for at least an hour
  • Remove it from the water, rinse off under hot water
  • Put it back in the holder (after putting some bleach into the holder)

It will certainly be easier to keep this bathroom tool clean in the future!
