Not sure what to do with old magazines? Try these super DIY projects
In the world of DIY crafts, there are many projects that can be made with paper, and many can be done by recycling paper objects that we generally throw away, instead of recycling in an imaginative way. In fact, even if we are now in the digital age, there is never a shortage of magazines, or perhaps catalogs, advertising brochures, flyers and other similar items that are made of paper.
Each of these will have different characteristics in terms of dimensions and colors but also paper weight and possible coatings (finishings). So even the jobs that you find for them will be different for the different materials. And with these various types of paper, you can also make furnishing or other useful items for the home, like the ones you see below:
Create long, thin tubes (like chopsticks) by rolling the sheets up and gluing them side by side: you will create baskets of all sizes to customize.
A bunch of magazines rolled up in cylinders, which support a glass top. They are held together by a sturdy strap, and rest on a wooden base: it's a very original idea for a coffee table!

If, on the other hand, you roll up the pages to create thin tubes and then flatten them to obtain thick strips, you can then work all these together to shape, for example, bowls and containers for holding knick-knacks.
They are beautiful if you then paint them as you wish and finish them off with with transparent protective products (varnish), with a glossy or satin finish, as desired.
Paper ribbons can be rolled to form discs or circles to be glued together to create trays or many other similar objects.
With round tubes made from magazines and newspapers, you can also make containers with multiple shelves and with a shape like that of cake stands.
Once you learn how to make paper tubes or rolls, they can be combined together to make almost anything. Here are baskets and storage boxes to be used throughout the house.
They could become, for example, napkin holders.
The sheets of every magazine, newspaper, booklet or catalog that happens to be laying around at home can also be used for cuttings of any shape. For example, you could make lots of flower shapes to combine into a beautiful wreath to be hung up wherever you like.
The paper of from these books etc. is also perfect for creative project to make with children: you can give shape to many cute animals, perhaps for decorations to hang up or to glue to other creations.
And if you need beads to string into a necklace, for exmple, you can make various shapes from thin strips of paper: depending on how you cut them, you will get beads of many different types.
