Do you want to rejuvenate an old leather bag? Try an old-fashioned remedy at no cost
Leather bags and accessories are part of the wardrobes of many, and even if synthetic and vegetable alternatives are becoming more and more prevalent and popular. Leather of animal origin, is a valuable and durable material, but it needs a little care to keep it in the best condition for a long time. Over time, in fact, it loses its softness and shine, drying out just like many other types of skin.
These are materials that must be hydrated and reconditioned periodically, so that they not only maintain a more beautiful appearance, but also it reduces the risk of them breaking or being damaged in a visible way. And to do this, you can also use an old-fashioned remedy at no cost.
It must be said that the products designed specifically for the treatment of hides and skins are those that generally give faster and satisfactory results - especially when it comes to a major restoration. But it doesn't hurt to try a milk-based remedy, which is particularly useful for gently cleaning and moisturizing leather bags, and gives them back a very pleasant color and shine.
Equip yourself with a few cotton balls (or disks that are typically used to remove make-up) and then some normal drinking milk (or even a cleansing milk used for the face).
Pour a little of milk onto the cotton - half a teaspoon is enough - and pass this over the bag gently, spreading it out well. Continue with more cotton balls and more milk until you have treated the whole surface, but without using too much of the milk and excessively wetting the object. Then use more dry cotton balls to rub the suface gently so as to let the milk penetrate the leather and remove any excess. Once done, let it dry.
Another very cheap and easy to find product for cleaning and polishing a pair of shoes or a bag that have become stained, is saddle soap (the soap which is used to clean horse saddles). Generally, when we buy saddle soap, we also find the product is equipped with a sponge. Using this sponge with a small amount of product, it is rubbed into the leather using small, circular movements. Then you need to wipe the surfaces off with a soft cloth to finish and remove any excess product. Remember not to get the soap wet.
