Stop shoes from laying all over the floor: discover the most useful IKEA shoe rack solutions
Finding a place for shoes in our wardrobe is essential to avoid creating clutter and mess around the home. In fact, if we do not have a piece of furniture, shelf or space to use as a shoe rack, our shoe collection can easily fall into chaos and disorder and creates a huge mess and inconvenience in our homes.
A shoe rack helps to tidy up the room, in the wardrobe compartment or even at the entrance to the house. And they can also be used to store off-season footwear. Depending on the space available in each room, we can use a dedicated piece of furniture, or find a way to put shoes inside a free wardrobes and shelves - and the furniture giant, IKEA, offers solutions for many needs like these.
Lots of sturdy hooks neatly arranged on a free wall which might be too small to accommodate a full shoe rack: they are less bulky than shelves filled with shoes, and there will be fewer surfaces to dust.
However, if the idea of leaving your shoes always exposed to dust and dirt is not for you, you can still take advantage of some open space in the furniture of a room (or even at the entrance to the home) by putting shoes inside special boxes. In this way, you will be able to arrange shoes in a more orderly and compact way, making better use of the available space.
Another alternative to use on furniture shelves is that of the MURVEL supports, which allow you to stack one shoe on top of the other, so that each pair does not take up space horizontally, but fills the vertical area. The result is more shoes on each shelf, and much more order and neatness.
If the compartment to be used with shoes is high enough to accommodate many pairs, but is not very deep, avoid stacking them in bulk, and instead use an agile and light shoe rack like the GREJIG model.
If you have always bought wardrobes or other pieces of furniture from IKEA, then check if these accessories already come e equipped with one of the compartments dedicated as a shoe cabinet or rack, as is the case, for example, with the PAX model.
Do you prefer open faced solutions? Then you could choose a shelf like PLATSA, on which to place bags, storage baskets and more (and shoes, of course).
Then, of course, there are the shoe racks with the traditional tilting shelves - convenient if you have free space close to a wall.
And with a little imagination, you can fix them to the wall, suspended above the floor, and fit them with a customized shelf on top. In this way, they will become a much more elegant piece of furniture in your home.
If you have space on some bookcase or an open cabinet (BILLY or KALLAX are among the best known models), you can also build or find a divider which is an insert in the shape of an "X" and that creates 4 useful compartments to fill with shoes such as sandals, lowsneakers, slippers and the like.
