Do you need extra space in your home? Check out these brilliant ways you could take advantage of the stairwell
If a house is small and/or hosts many people, there is never enough space to store various objects, and even finding a place to use when all the rooms are already occupied becomes a challenge. But if the stairwell has not yet been exploited, it could hold many pleasant surprises and opportunities. And it is also somewhere that can be furnished with taste, or with some funny gimmick - even in a house that does not have space problems.
A small study, a service bathroom, a built-in wardrobe or a pantry and more: there are so many ways to exploit this irregularly shaped space according to your needs. Take a look at the ideas below - you might find one that's right for you.
As cramped as it is, if you can fill the stairwell with a range of custom furniture. Doing so, you will find space to store everything from spare parts, to cleaning tools, to dishes that are used rarely.
Even more usefrul is equipping the stairwell with removable shelves - those that slide in and out on standard rails: you could find space for storing seasonal shoes that are not being used, or it could become the shoe rack used at the entrance if you are used to walking around the house with slippers on.
If it is high enough, it is an ideal spot for a service bathroom for guests.
The stairwell is not just a place for a closet: if it is close enough to the kitchen, it will be an excellent pantry once equipped with custom-made shelves.
On the other hand, when it is at the entrance to the room near a wall, you can use it as a very beautiful, open bookcase.
Or you can have custom-made furniture built to cover the entire wall of the stairwell (but it is not certain that you cannot find ready-made items sold in stores).
How about making it the private space for your four-legged friend?
There are a thousand ideas to create a compact and super-functional office in the stairwell space.
And with enough space available, it can become almost a mini room in itself, so as to allow one to concentrate while working on the PC.
A bit like in attics, an area with an oblique ceiling such as the the stairwell is ideal used as a niche for relaxation and reading.
And if you were a wine lover, you could create your own private cellar right under the stairs with all the necessary comforts.
How did you use the stairwell in your house (if you have one)?
