Recycle wooden pallets: wonderful ideas to transform pallets into fascinating furniture for the home
In the world of DIY there is perhaps nothing that is as versatile and popular as pallets: the wooden pallets used to load and transport large quantities of goods are, in fact, objects with a very simple shape, which can be exploited in many different ways, and will always maintain a remarkable robustness. They are also relatively easy to disassemble to make objects that can be put together in many different ways. And it doesn't hurt that they also don't cost an arm and a leg either.
So if you are planning to put some piece of furniture in your home, try looking for DIY projects to rather make it with pallets - there are some really very creative ideas for all tastes. Some of these are proposed below.
A living room set: a pallet can be used as the console that acts as a base for the TV and one can also serve as the coffee table to be placed in front of it - perhaps even equipped with useful, custom-made drawers.
A coffee table with a compartment for storing items inside with a lid made from a pallet. Painted in white, it fits more easily into a decor that is not too rustic.
When used for coffee tables, in any room, pallet planking can be used to divide up intermediate levels which then become useful for storing extra items.
At the entrance to the house, a long and narrow unit that acts as a shoe rack could be useful.
There is no lack of ideas for building shoe racks that can contain many pairs of shoes - perhaps placed in parts of the house that are more service-type areas and not visited by guests.
Would you like a counter that acts as a mini island and table in the kitchen? You can build one without spending a fortune using pallets.
A simple and popular project is to join two layers of pallets together to create a frame to use as a sofa / bed.
And this also works with a single layer of pallets - perhaps then equipped with wheels to move it easily when needed. They can be customized by adding other materials too, such as a glass shelf.
Not just for furniture: pallet wood is also used for furnishing accessories, such as a coat hangers.
Or with small shelves with a pallet panel backing to hang on the wall.
A candle holder made entirely of wood: you can make this with pieces of pallets, appropriately machined and treated.
Indoors as well as outdoors, parts of a pallet can be used to create an original lantern holder.
