Transform simple plastic bottles into enchanting fairy houses - discover how to make them!

From the water we drink every day to many drinks that are always around on holidays, most are contained in plastic bottles that accumulate. So it is very likely that many of us find ourselves filling a plastic bag with them to throw away. And then there are the bottles of detergents of all kinds, which, like water bottles, could actually become super creative objects.

With a little imagination, in fact, you can make little houses for fairies or even an entire magical village from those commonly used containers. It is enough just to equip yourself with a blade and scissors to do this (perhaps this is a chore to be left to adults to do, and the children can then play with the finished objects). Just cut away the parts that are not needed, and then, if desired, you can have fun with modelling pastes and paints to create truly magical and amazing fairy houses.

This type of project is certainly lenghty, but not impossible. You need to shape various pieces with DAS (a famous modelling clay) and stick them to the bottles (which you have modified to change their shape a bit). Then you paint them to give everything a more authentic look. You can even use kitchen tinfoil. It's just a matter of getting started and then you'll want to fill these fantastic fairy houses with detail.

Everyone can use the style they prefer, perhaps also inspired by characters from books or films, or illustrations found on the net. When it comes to creating, there is no limit to the imagination.

For all the structures with the strangest shapes, such as the curled tips of these houses, free-standing DAS is not enough: you need to create malleable but resistant supports on which the modeling clay can then adhere - and that's where the tinfoil we use comes into play. The most suitable colors for painting these creations are watercolors, but even if you use acrylic paints, you can get very pleasant results.

If you cut the bottles short from the start - or use some types that are already smaller and stockier - you can create these mini houses. With a stick in front and the cavity inside them, they can be used as feeders for birds, to hang in the garden after filling with suitable seed mixes.

But they are also very cute to have hanging around the house, perhaps on some plants: after all, fairies are really creatures of the woods!

Another way to use them is as candle holders or lanterns: since they are plastic, you can only use electric candles, but they will be really adorable.

With detergent bottles you can also build cute little houses: and since these already have a handle, the resulting shape is already more imaginative - so they don't necessarily have to be further altered with DAS.

Even just markers and paints, it's all that is needed to decorate these miniature magical homes, and then the kids can play with them at will.
